In the heart of my studio, surrounded by soft light, unfinished blocks of clay and the quiet rhythm of handwork, I sometimes share the space with a small, curious presence: my five-year-old daughter.
We each sit at our own desk — mine covered in materials and sketches, hers in crayons and paper. And while we don’t always speak, there’s a shared focus that connects us.
Lately, I’ve been working more slowly. Not because I do less, but because I do it more intentionally.
My process has never been rushed but now more than ever, I feel no pressure to speed up.
After walking through burnout and finding my way back to myself, I choose slowness. I choose presence. I choose work that allows me to breathe while creating.
Every piece I make is still shaped by hand, still made with care, still deeply personal.
But in this season, it might take a little longer for new work to arrive, or for custom orders to be completed. And I’m okay with that.
Because this is what balance looks like for me right now. Imperfect, but meaningful.
Sometimes it’s my daughter beside me, other times it’s my seven-year-old son — who will surely make an appearance in one of my next summer reels.
These small moments of togetherness are part of the rhythm too.
Thank you for embracing that rhythm with me.
With warmth,
Isabelle
